Most Recent Etsy Purchase: Concord Soap

My most recent purchase was from etsy shop ConcordSoap, I love handmade soap and was excited to give this shop a try. I was tweeting one day, and Concord soap was tweeting too, and a great sale, so I figured this was a great time to give a try to this shop which had already been in my favorites.

I chose 2 bars of soap, Apple Jack and Warm Vanilla Sugar, two of my all time favorite scents and I especially love it when I find in a cold process variety. I also got a tub of natural lip balm, because lets face it I go through a lot a lip balm, sadly because they seem to disappear. I have a rotating stock of lip balms coming in and out of my life depending on where I tuck them, and find them again.

The package arrived very quickly and was fun to open. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, like many I just like what I ordered as soon as possible. My package was safe and sound and so fun to go through, each bar of soap wrapped nicely in tissue then again in its tulle bag, I knew this as it is shown in the listing. This is the first time I got soaps wrapped in this way and it was quite impressive packaging and would perfect if you were buying handmade soap for a gift.

I also got a tub of natural lip balm, this is one of the best lip balms I have ever gotten on etsy. It is firm, yet rich and creamy going on the lips, it has a natural refreshing scent, and is perfect for daily wear, or throughout the day wear.

In my package was a sample of soap leaves, they are silk leaves dipped in soap they are so cute and would be a perfect addition to a guest bath or gift basket.

ConcordSoap is a shop totally worth checking out if you love cold process soaps, be sure to check out the soaps and all the other goodies available.

Acorn Earrings

Autumn is on the way and in my neighborhood that means acorns are falling and squirrels are busy gathering and burying. I hope to gather a few up before they are all gone for some crafting projects this fall. In the meantime I have been browsing the array of acorn jewelry and earrings on etsy.

Magical Acorns

I don't know that I really have seen acorn earrings before etsy and would like to add a pair or two to my wardrobe. Fabulous bead caps and a variety of beads, colors and finishes make the options nearly endless. I think I viewed 26 pages and found a few faves to admire.

Change Purses for Change

I am very excited to be be participating in my first Carried Away Bag Team (CABT) charity event. This fundraiser "Change Purses for Change" CABT team members participating will design a change purse, wallet or pouch suitable for holding money. We will be donating the proceeds from the change purse sales to Women for Women International.

Since it’s creation, Women for Women International has empowered over 153,000 women survivors of war to move toward economic self-sufficiency with our year-long program of direct aid, rights education, job skills training, and small business development. They have distributed $42 million in direct aid, microcredit loans, and other program services. Since 1993, Women for Women International has mobilized more than 125,000 women and men in 105 countries worldwide to reach out and support women survivors of war – one woman at a time. You can read more here womenforwomen.org/index.php

I have offered a coin purse, simple but useful style with a fresh color pallete white and aqua. It is listed in the CABT etsy shop right now. You can see the listing here, worldwide shipping available and will ship directly from me.

Be sure to check out the team shop, other listings and Women for Women. Thanks to the CABT for the opportunity to help this cause.

Sneak Attack My most recent Etsy purchase

Sneak attack? What is that? A couple times a week usually Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays 1-3 Etsy shops with few or no sales are chosen as a "victim,” and at a given time multiple buyers all visit the site and buy from the chosen shop, resulting in a whole slew of surprise business in a very short time. It’s a great way to give a big boost to new Etsy shops!

I love this idea and have participated several times, each finding new items and shops to heart. My most recent was from the Etsy shop KatieandEmma I got two cards from this shop one above and one below.

The cards were rich in color and wonderfully made, I have plans for the "Hi" one and the other I am sure will be used when I need a card for someone special. Each card came with an envelope for sending or giving and a cello protective envelope.

I am often hooked during the sneak attack by cards and soap. You can find the sneak attack in the etsy forums down in the "etc" section a discussion thread is started each day of an attack for chatting and anticipation of reveal of the shops chosen. The reveal is usually on HandmadeMovement.com on a chosen date and time.

Everyone shares there purchases and sometimes the attackee shows up to the thread. There have been shops who have had zero sales at the begining and sell out their whole shop in just a few hours. Last I saw 23 sales to a single shop was the record.

Sneak attack on etsy is a great way to make someones day, network and get some really cool stuff!!
